Summer Splash FAQ
Q: Who is Summer Splash for?
A: Summer Splash is for moms and their kids! It is targeted for kids preschool-6th grade, but a mom with a infant, 4th grader and Jr. Higher are welcome to bring all three! No one will be turned away.
Q: How are you going to do VBS in one day?
A: Well, we aren’t! While we are taking a break from VBS this summer and funneling those resources normally spent on VBS into something new (Summer Splash), the two programs really aren’t all that similar. Summer Splash is designed to be a one day blessing to the people in our community. We are renting out the 2 Woodlands pools on 2 different days and we will just provide a fun time for moms and their kids, free lunch, crafts, activities, prizes and Gospel presentation. We will send them on their way having heard the truth about Jesus and an invitation back to our church. The whole goal of Summer Splash is OUTREACH!
Q: I still want my kid to go to VBS and I rely on that “time off” during the VBS week, why do I have to attend Summer Splash with my kids?
A: There are actually many churches doing VBS this summer here in our community, many of them are part of the “One Mission” team. Check out the KIDZ INC Facebook page for more details about those VBS experiences. Also, we are requiring a guardian to attend with their child because it would be impossible to ensure the safety of the kids in a off campus environment surrounded by water, even with the life guards that will be present.
Q: I have very young children, how am I going to take my older elementary aged child?
A: The same way you would normally take all of your kids to the pool during the summer! The way Summer Splash is designed is to make a trip to the pool with the kids easier than it normally is for you moms! There will never be a time when you need to be at one spot with one child and one spot with another. Think of it as a normal trip to the pool with your kids but with the added bonus of free lunch, crafts and activities that you can come and go to at your leisure, a story time and lots of fun! Summer Splash will be very “laid back” and not “over programmed” the only structured time will be when we shut down the pool and have everyone gather around the story telling area.
Q: How can I serve?
A: We have numerous opportunities to serve on these 2 days. You can serve 1 day or both days. Things like food preparation and serving, crafts, activities, registration etc. If you would like to serve please contact Kathy Romain right away at firstname.lastname@example.org . However, if you serve on these 2 days or not, the number one thing you can do is INVITE, INVITE, INVITE!! Pick up some door hangers at the Ministry Counter and pass them out to all your neighbors.
Q: Will there be childcare provided back at the church for VOLUNTEERS who want to serve but wouldn’t be able to if they had to watch their babies and toddlers at the pool?
A: YES!! There will be childcare provided on those 2 days for our Summer Splash Volunteers. Childcare will be from 11am-3:45pm for kids birth-5 years. Contact Alicia Adams at email@example.com to register your child so you can volunteer.
