Adult Communities
What are they?
Adult Communities are ongoing adult classes led by our tremendous teachers that meet on Sunday mornings during our two service times (9:00 & 10:40 AM). This is a great place to begin to connect with others and experience the power of in-depth Bible studies that speak directly to life’s issues.
How do I get started?
These classes are wide open for you. Pick a class that looks interesting and the hour that you want to attend and go for it! Make sure to let some people in the class know that its your first time being there, so they can welcome you. Grab an “Adult Communities” brochure in our church lobbies or check below for the most recent listing of our adult communities.
Classes Beginning at 9:00 AM
Parenting Teens
Led by David Cunningham; B – 204
The teen years can be challenging to any parent and to their teens(s). To guide us through this stage we need support, ideas, advice and prayer. Join several like minded parents and hear from many of our great teachers: Mark Cornelison, Bill Yarger, Gavin Carrier, Dave Mabry and more.
Family Matters – End Times
Led by Scott McEwen; B – 205
Our class will be completing the Church History Study in January and moving “forward” to prophecy and the end times for the balance of the Spring. This study will examine the current state of the church and look at what the Bible tells us concerning the coming days. This class is a multi-generational class that focuses on our relationships here on earth and in eternity and our position as empowered representatives of Christ seeking to encourage and exhort one another all the more as we see the day drawing near.
Explorers – Intimacy with Christ
Led by Don and Rhonda Ortolano; B – 211/212
Come join us as we strive to develop a deeper, more intimate relationship with Christ! Using The Gospel of John as our backdrop, we will explore the magnificent Being we call Lord! Share unique journeys and life experiences on our path to greater intimacy! If you’d like to learn more about Explorers, click here.
Oasis Single Parent Community
Led by Chuck & Leslie Briese; B – 203
Oasis is an adult community just for single parents. We grow as disciples through Bible study, and through the application of biblical concepts to address the demands of single parenting. Along the way there is fellowship, fun, sharing and support. Oasis is a safe place, full of grace, where we are all broken, and we are all loved. All single parents are welcome.
International Community
Led by Ethan Collins; B – 201
Do you have a heart for Internationals here in The Woodlands? Interested in different cultures? Lived overseas and struggled to “re-enter”? Are you from another country? Come join us as we study God’s Missional heart and seek to become a platform for Internationals to connect with us here at Faith Bible Church.
Pure Religion – Foster Care Group
Led by Dave Kerr; B – 210
Group study and discussion surrounding The Connected Child authored by Karyn Purvis. The Connected Child is applicable to all families striving to correct and connect to their children (birth, adopted or fostered). Book and Workbook provided.
Classes beginning at 10:40AM
Fellowship Class – Why we believe what we believe
Led by Randy Howard & Mark Prebish; B – 204
If you are looking for a place to plug-in beyond attendance at the worship serive, this is a great pace to start. On Sunday morning, we have a short time of Fellowship, then prayer, and a lesson. Our current topic is “Why we believe what we believe”, a study of the church’s doctrinal statement. Come join us.
Feasting on the Word – Epistles of Peter
Led by Miles Tompkins; B – 203
Peter’s first letter is written to encourage faith and endurance in the face of trials and persecution within a culture that is inherently alien to the faith. In doing the apostle emphasizes glorification realities and the eternal promises of God. In the second letter he presents the second coming of Christ as the supreme motivation for godly living. Both are of inestimable value to those who desire to honor our Lord now and in the Kingdom to come.
Kindred Spirits – “Pinch Points of the Faith: A study of difficult (problem) passages in the Bible
Led by Kem Oberholtzer; B – 211/212
Have you ever thought, “How does this passage fit with other passages in the bible?” Come join us for this multifaceted study! Our class has regular prayer request, fellowships and interactions with each other and the study.
Young Marrieds
Led by Mickey & Brandi McGrew; B – 201
Our Adult Community is a great connecting place for young couples in their 20’s and 30’s. Our hope is to strengthen marriages and encourage couples to connect with each other and God.
Ascending Leaders - Navigating the Heart of Change
Led by various leaders; B – 205
January through May we examine the biblical pattern for how God changes our hearts. Utilizing a counseling method, we will examine our own heart allegiances and learn from the bible skills that we can use to help other’s examine their hearts and live more by faith moment-to-moment. Later in the Spring, we will apply these teachings in 5 weeks on marriage, “Heartfelt Marriage”, and 6+ weeks on parenting, “Parenting the Heart”.
Singles Community
Led by David Miller; A- 235
The Singles class is designed to build community among singles and provide an opportunity for them to grow together as disciples through Bible study, service and fellowship. Our goal is to encourage an authentic community where the participants learn to give grace, living truth, and reflecting Jesus.

Parents of Little Ones (POLO)
Led by Phil Wegner; B – 202
(POLO) is a class for families who are in the pre-school to elementary years of parenting. The most important thing we can do as parents to influence our children, is to nurture intimacy ourselves with Christ. We will discuss how we as parents can grow closer to Christ and how we can help our kids to do the same.
